Job Description

We are scaling three technical teams in Paris right now and have BackEnd Engineering vacancies at all levels. Our Serenity team is building an automated Fraud Detection and moderation product, Search provide search capabilities as a service centred around Elasticsearch to all of our marketplaces and Touchstone provide an A-B experimentation platform; all of which need to be scaled, integrated and customizable enough meet the needs of all of our global marketplaces and 250 million monthly users!

  • C/C++, Golang, Java, Kotlin, Python, Scala
  • AWS (DynamoDB, SNS/SQS, CloudFormation), Mesos, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka
  • Distributed & Microservices Architectures

As a BackEnd Engineer you will….

  • Engineer state of the art highly scalable systems, using the best development practices and tools, that have real revenue-generating impact
  • Be a part of a self organising team which collectively defines the stack, architecture, development environment and best practices
  • Keep on top of the latest and greatest developments in distributed systems and the cloud and proactively bring your ideas to the table
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team here in Paris and alongside colleagues throughout Europe and Latin America
  • Collaborate effectively with other teams (Stakeholders, Product and UX) to drive product development.
  • Be creative and experiment with new solutions yet pragmatic and committed to code optimisation, maintainability, and quality.

Preferred Experience

Ideally you have...

  • Solid coding skills in at least one programming language and would love to learn more!
  • The cloud is your friend. Particularly AWS, Google Cloud, or any proprietary clouds.
  • In depth exposure of modern engineering challenges around scalability and integration
  • Experience in building, maintaining and monitoring high traffic distributed systems at scale
  • Ability to evaluate architectural decisions; weigh up trade-offs, make decisions and implement
  • Experience of pair programming, code review, clean code and CI/CD
  • An understanding of quality by design, and consistently works with Unit testing, Integration Testing
  • An ownership and result oriented person with a team-player spirit, which benefits the group vs the individual
  • Technical and business level English
